The 2020 Tennessee Valley Corridor’s Annual National Summit is being held virtually this year as a series of five free sessions. The Virtual Summit Series promotes initiatives to advance the TVC’s mission and to encourage on-going collaboration in energy, science, environment, space, national security and education. Seven States Power was honored to sponsor the July 30th session entitled “Public Power Fueling Economic Growth in the Tennessee Valley Corridor”.

The 90-minute webinar featured an introduction by Seven States Power’s Executive VP Betsey Kirk McCall and two keynote speakers, Jeff Lyash, CEO of the Tennessee Valley Authority, and Jeff Dykes, CEO of BrightRidge in Jonson City, Tenn. Following the keynote speakers, Greg Williams, General Manager of Appalachian Electric Cooperative, moderated a panel made up of Mike Bolin, VP at Knoxville Utility Board, Pete Owens, VP at Dollywood, Dr. Ozlem Kilic, Associate Dean of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Cindy Herron, VP at the Tennessee Valley Authority. Bert Robinson of the Tennessee Valley Authority opened the session and the guest speakers provided insights on the role that public power plays in attracting and supporting businesses in the Tennessee Valley Corridor.
