Montgomery Bell State Park

Seven States Power Corporation, Dickson Electric System (DES), and the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation partnered to install a 150-kW, 2-hour battery energy storage system at the Montgomery Bell State Park Visitor Center in Burns, TN. The system stores energy and releases it back onto DES’s distribution network, improving local reliability and moving the grid toward a more flexible power future.

The project is part of Seven States’ “Reliability as a Service” model: Seven States owns the battery and provides the capacity. Dedicated during Seven States’ 2024 Annual Meeting, this visible, customer-focused asset demonstrates how targeted, right-sized storage can support peak needs and modernize the distribution grid—while showcasing innovation within one of Tennessee’s most-visited state parks.
