Tim Henderson: Valley Innovation Ambassador
November 30, 2023

Tim Henderson knows the value of technology and its wide-reaching impact on the Valley.

Leading Cleveland Utilities Authority as President and CEO, Tim is focused on bringing innovation to his community to improve his customers’ lives.

“We are about to enter the broadband business and are looking forward to the value it will add to our community.  And as part of that full buildout, we are really going to strengthen the electric system, because side by side, we’re also going to implement distribution automation. We know that it’s going to make the electric system more reliable, and it will enable us to have quicker response times. That is extremely exciting for us because we know it’s going to make us stronger.”

While innovative technology is crucial to the Valley’s future, Tim shared that partnering with Seven States has brought his team great value.

“Working with a team like Seven States that has the expertise on all the different offerings and options that are available has been really vital for us.  To be able to lean in on their knowledge and explore what’s working in the Valley and what our options are has saved us so much time, and it’s helped us figure out what would be most beneficial for us to pursue.”

When asked what advice he’d give to new managers, Tim shared that communicating with your customer base is an important first step.

“Communication is absolutely paramount. Getting that information out there to your customers, and not necessarily at a high technical level, but something that the average user can understand, is of vital importance. I think the better you can facilitate communicating directly to your customers—the real, honest, clear story of what you’re doing day-to-day, to help explain the technology and why it matters, and even your current challenges that you have encountered—the better off you are.”
